Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has taken an issue with those claiming the GEMA nation cannot support any candidate outside their region. The MP says just like the entire GEMA nation made a conscious decision to support Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta, so has the outfit decided to throw its weight behind Deputy President William Ruto.
”We are just tired of people begrudging us for our choices. Thrice we made a decision to support Kibaki 100% in ‘97, ‘02 and ‘07. No one had an issue with that. Twice we made a decision to support Uhuru Kenyatta 100% in ‘13 and ‘17. We were angels then. Kenyans have been saying that GEMA can not suppprt another tribe. Willingly and without being forced they have settled on William Ruto,” Kuria wrote.
The MP explained how he dropped his 2022 presidential bid for fear of being called a betrayer, if he continued with his quest despite earlier promise of supporting Ruto.
”I even offered myself as a candidate but GEMA people told me its time to support another tribe. So what have we done wrong to deserve being called stupid? I thought we deserve bouquets not barbs for supporting a person from another tribe.
” We are staring at a major uprising, nay, revolution in GEMA Nation. We better die on our feet rather than live on our knees. They disrespected our fathers who fought for indipendence. We will fight for our honour and our dignity. Look at the demolitions in Kariobangi and Ruai all meant to pave way for foolish unbridled wealth accumulation. How much more can we swallow without rising up? Enough is enough,” he added.
