A press statement by Public Service and Gender CS Margaret Kobia over Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru impeachment has received harsh criticism from a majority of Kenyans with accusing her of double standards.

Kobia expressed her disappointment that Waiguru was impeached stating that the move was an indicator that a number of Kenyans do not value strong women leadership.

“It is unfortunate that Governor Anne Waiguru’s term is being cut short by an impeachment. This is an indicator that some us do not value strong women leadership,” Kobia stated in her press statement.

However, reacting to the remarks, Nakuru senator blasted CS Kobia for double standards after her silence when she was ousted from senate Majority Whip role by the ruling Jubilee party.

In a satirically suggestion, Kihika asserted that nominated MP Cecile Mbarire, who was also removed from the Deputy Majority Whip in the National Assembly, and herself, should send Kobia naked pictures of themselves to prove that they are women too.

“Wondering if a similar letter from @CSMargaretKobia for @CecilyMbarire and I got lost in the mail? Could the Ministry of Gender not be aware that we are women too? Cess, perhaps it’s time for you and I to send Kobia our naked pics then she might stand up for us against the bully too,” an agitated Nakuru senator stated.
