Former Harambee Stars Captain Musa Otieno has tested positive for the deadly coronavirus. The football legend has been moving around his neighborhood, distributing food stuff and essential items to the less fortunate.
”He’s been risking it all to ensure families in Nairobi’s slums have food on their tables during these tough times. And now Musa Otieno has tested positive for covid-19. Pray for his healing and that of all covid-19 patients,” Sports journalist Carol Radull posted on Twitter.
Kenyans expressed their well wishes to the retired footballer, wishing him good health and quick recovery, together with other Kenyans currently being treated for the disease.
Otieno has been at the forefront in distributing foodstuff to the vulnerable in Maringo , the area where he grew up through his Kick off to Hope organization.
“Most of the players’ parents have lost income because a huge number do contractual jobs which are no longer available. And that means that even the players themselves are not eating well. We have started a program where we have set aside five dollars for each family and we have started with our players,” Otieno said in an interview with Capital Sports last month.
