Details have emerged of a fall-out in Deputy President William Ruto’s camp that has seen four influential billionaires whose financial muscle would have been key in his campaigns ditch his team, leaving a financial dent.

The four who include David Langat, Joshua Kulei, Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki, and Silas Simotwo have left a huge dent in the DP’s pockets and raising concerns on how he will mount a well-oiled campaign in 2022.

Nation reports that the main areas of contention included contracts on the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), Jomo Kenyatta International Airport’s Greenfield terminal, which was inexplicably canceled, the school laptop project and special economic zones which did not go as expected to the benefit of the billionaires.

Angered by the DP’s failure to fulfill his end of the bargain, the billionaires have decamped to rival political formations seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

David Langat and Buzeki have found a new home in Chama Cha Mashinani whose party leader Issac Ruto is one of the DP’s rivals in the Rift Valley.

Joshua
Kulei on the other hand is with Baringo Senator Gideon Moi’s KANU.

The two
parties (CCM and KANU have a pact with Jubilee where DP Ruto has been isolated
with his allies kicked out of key positions.

A source
privy to the details revealed that the parties will work together in an alliance
that will make DP Ruto’s ambitions remain a pipe dream.

“We are working on a strategy where CCM and
Kanu are going to work together before joining a larger alliance that will have
a better chance of forming the next government,” the confidante told reporters.

DP Ruto’s source of wealth has been a
contentious issue especially after failing to disclose his source of wealth
amidst numerous allegations that he could be benefitting from proceeds of
corruption.
