Chelsea have now turned their attention to Manchester United young keeper Dean Henderson for signing as their search for Kepa Arrizabalaga intensifies.
The Spanish keeper has been erratic in goal for the Blues this season and was dropped for Chelsea’s last league assignment against Leicester City, Willy Caballero started between the posts.
Frank Lampard is determined to sign a new keeper and his side was reportedly closing in on Ajax’s Andre Onana who is viewed as a perfect replacement for the Spanish international.
Chelsea have now shifted their focus to United’s Henderson. The custodian is currently on loan at Sheffield United where he has been in his best form this season and there have been reports that he could dislodge David De Gea as United number one.
Henderson signed a new contract at United last summer before returning to Sheffield for another loan spell. His place at United is however not guaranteed as De Gea remains undisputed number one. They have an able back-up in Sergio Romero.
United will most likely rebuff Chelsea’s approach as they view the youngster as De Gea’s long-term successor. If he is not guaranteed playtime at Old Trafford, he is likely to head out for another loan deal next season.
French giants PSG were also reportedly eyeing the young custodian who has been backed to make it to England’s 2020 Euros squad.
