The latest opinion poll released by Intel Research Solutions shows a tight race with ODM party leader Raila Odinga closing in on DP Willliam Rutro’s lead.

The poll shows that DP Ruto is the front-runner at 30% with Odinga following closely at 17% despite the fact that the ODM party leader has not yet declared interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Machakos governor Alfred Mutua came in at number 3, polling at 8% with
his supporters pointing out that he will replicate his development agenda for
Machakos county to the whole country.

The poll also ranked Mutua as the best performing governor at 27 percent
followed by Joho
(21 percent) and Oparanya third with 13 percent.

ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi came in fourth at 7%, followed by KANU’s Gideon Moi at 6%.

Others ranked include Hassan
Joho (5), Fred Matiangi (3), Kivutha Kibwana (2) and Wycliffe Oparanya (2).

62% of those polled expressed a desire to see a change in the country’s
leadership.

Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Kericho’s Paul Chepkwony and their Kisumu counterpart Peter Anyang’ Nyongo were ranked as the worst-performing governors, polling at 1% in the report that was released today.

The poll also painted a grim picture for current leaders, revealing that 50% of those polled held that the current office-holders will not be voted back.
